Auditions (2)

 Audition and Screentest.

Friday was a productive, fun, hectic and stressful day. We were supposed to audition the 2 candidates for the lead role.

We first worked with Moiz. We explained the role to him again, thoroughly, and asked him to play the first scene for us. We briefed Moiz on how Ali is supposed to act initially, and how he acts when his personality switches.

Credits: This picture is taken by Misbah Arshad, a friend and classmate of ours.

Here are pictures of us observing his initial attempt.
For a first try, he did quite well, however, he somewhat lacked the creepiness required by the evil personality within him.

Since our narrative and character demands creepiness and eeriness, it is supposed to have a similar vibe to Tim Burton movies (or shows). I had seen a clip of Jenna Ortega, who plays Wednesday Adamms in Wednesday. She said that Tim had asked her to tilt her chin down and "look through her eyebrows" to achieve the eerie look.
I sat across from Moiz, and advised him to do the same, hoping we would achieve the creepy look. Him and I experimented with this tip. I took a picture of the results.

Zuha and I, both were quite satisfied with it, and Moiz also grew comfortable into it. We have decided to rehearse and practice this look more and more.

Moiz attempting to seem like the innocent personality of Ali.

Zuha and I loved Moiz's audition, his acting skills, confidence, and interaction skills made everything very easy for us.

Later, Haseeb and I checked in with Moiz again, and attempted some screen tests. Here is some behind the scenes footage from the screen tests. We unfortunately don't have the complete footage of the screentest itself, but we do have one clip, and one Behind the scenes clip.

I also guided Moiz regarding the dialogue delivery. While reciting his line, "I have to kill her", I asked him to emphasize on and enunciate the word 'have' a little, to express the dire urgency Ali has.

We were very satisfied with how things went with Moiz.
However, we decided to take one last audition, to keep our options open.
